Dr. C
KeymasterRupees: 1,000 RupeesRank: Magic SwordFor your WEEK 1 QUEST, you’ll have to post once by 11:59 pm on Friday, January 20th, and again by 11:59 pm on Monday, January 23rd.
In your first post, please introduce yourself to your classmates. Help us get to know you better! Compose a thoughtful introduction in which you cover the basics… which, at the very least, should include:
– Your name (what you like to be called)
– Your major or primary course of study at Rutgers
– Your interests and hobbies outside of class
– Something interesting (and perhaps out of the ordinary… and perhaps extraordinary…) about yourselfThen, tell us about your relationship with GAMES. In this second part of your introduction, tell us:
– Why did you take this course?
– What are you hoping to experience in this class?
– What kinds of games do you like to play? (Is there a specific genre you prefer? Board games, video games, card games, etc…? Any specific game titles? Note that this information might already help to determine who should be working with who once it comes time to form design teams.)Once you’ve posted your introduction (by 11:59 PM on Friday) … reply directly to at least three of your classmates’ posts (by 11:59 PM on Monday)! Your reply should be thoughtful. (Be a human being, exchange ideas, and get to know each other!)

Destiny
ParticipantRupees: 475 RupeesRank: White SwordHello, my name is Destiny, I am a soon-to-be graduating senior here at Rutgers. My area of study is Journalism. I love writing and exploring different types of writing. Outside of my typical school and work life, I enjoy travelling to new places, trying new foods, and watching Netflix. Something interesting about me is that I love animals, especially reptiles, I had a pet snake, and he died, I wish I could have another, but I do not have the time to care for one currently, hopefully in the future.
I took this course because I wanted to work more collaboratively this semester, in the future I think having this experience will prove itself to be useful. By the end of this course, I hope that I will be able to successfully create a game design document that I can add to my portfolio. My favorite game that I enjoy playing are to this day the Sims, I think the delusional side of me feeds off of creating and controlling a world I created. I have owned every single sim’s computer game and every now and then I binge-play it for a few days and then stop playing for years. I prefer to play games that store user experience and have a storyline.

ParticipantRupees: 1,090 RupeesRank: Magic SwordHi Destiny! Sorry about your pet snake. Did it have a name? Also, what’s your favorite cuisine and food? I remember I played Sims once and was hooked for days, until I just unexpectedly stopped. That is usually how it goes for me too when I play games where time is a big factor for success, like tycoon games.

ParticipantRupees: 45 RupeesRank: White SwordHi, Destiny! Sims are super fun! You can watch all characters living in that world. I can see some connections between your major Journalism and your interests in games. Both are about observing the world. Hope you can find a new pet friend soon.

ParticipantRupees: 735 RupeesRank: White SwordHi Destiny! I am also a senior and I also took this course because of its collaborative aspect as I feel it is a good skill to having prior to graduation as we will need to collaborate with others no matter what occupation we go into! I also love writing and think its so cool that you are a journalism major. While I do not like snakes, my brother actually has one that he keeps in his room. I am absolutely terrified of it! We have a similar interest in traveling also, I love to travel and hope to do a lot more of it after I graduate.

I have two pet dogs. It’s crazy because I forgot all about the SIMS game. I used to play it all the time as a kid. It was nice experiencing a new world.

Joeun
ParticipantRupees: 1,090 RupeesRank: Magic SwordHi! My name is Joeun (Jone). I am a freshman in the Pharmacy Program. I like baking and cooking in my free time. I started learning how to cultivate sourdough, and have made starter based breads from bagels to ciabattas. Apart from baking, I enjoy gardening and agricultural based hobbies. If I had not majored in Pharmacy I would be and environmental science or agriculture major. My favorite vegetable to grow are tomatoes because of the numerous varieties. My interesting fact is that I have pet chickens, so I get fresh green and blue eggs daily.
I took this course at first for two reasons. The first being that the course is asynchronous, which gives me more leniency in my class scheduling. The second is because I was looking for something different than the traditional writing courses, where you explicitly just read and write. I hope to gain an enjoyable experience from this writing course, where I learn the bigger picture behind a successful game and expand my creativity and appreciation. Regarding my experience with games, I have played card, board, PC, and physical games. Since I was young, my family have been game fanatics, staying up to 2AM on school nights to play UNO and 5 hour Monopoly games. At family gatherings my extended family and I consistently stay together to play Sequence, Monopoly Deal, and multiple other games that I can’t remember the name of, as I have this one cousin who buys a new game for every gathering. On Korean holidays, like Chuseok, my family and I play traditional games like chicken fight, Omuk, Yutnori, and Go-Stop, where I would gamble with my grandmas and lose against their aged skill. With my friends, we play party games like Cards Against Humanity and Telestrations. On my own, I have gone from playing games like Fireboy and Watergirl to Valorant, Phasmophobia, and League of Legends. My most timeless game that I can spend hours on when playing with friends is Minecraft.

ParticipantRupees: 370 RupeesRank: White SwordHi Joeun!
I totally agree with you on the point the asynchronous format class could give us more leniency in class scheduling. I live an hour away from campus. Going back and forth between school and home takes two hours, and this asynchronous course saves me that time. I really envy that all your family members are game fanatics. When I was a kid, I really enjoyed watching my uncle and father play some online video games like “legend” and “Starcraft”. But my mother always stopped me from watching these and made me read books or do homework.

I also took this course because of the leniency of it being asynchronous as well as looking for something different than a regular writing course.

ParticipantRupees: 965 RupeesRank: Magic SwordHello! My name is Megan Slattery. I am a senior at Rutgers and majoring in Psychology. My hobbies include baking, gardening, going to the gym, and playing with my kitten. An interesting fact about me is that I love animals and I recently got a kitten.
I decided to take this course not only to fulfill the writing requirement, but also because it seemed interesting and unique. I don’t have a lot of recent experience with games, but when I was a child, games were my favorite. I loved board games, playing games outside, and when my family finally got a desktop computer in 2006 (I was 6-years-old), I began to play computer games for a few of the shows I liked growing up such as on Nick.com or Disney Channel (lol). The only game I can say I play recently is candy crush on my iPhone, but even that is kind of rare for me to do. I look forward to learning more about games, and enhancing my writing skills as well! Thank you!

I am Destiny and I also own cats; I have two their names are Bella and foodie. Having a cat is really special. When I was younger, I loved going on to Disney sites and playing the computer games with my brother at our local library. ParticipantRupees: 715 RupeesRank: White SwordHi! My name is Ani and I am a BAIT (Business Analytics and Information Technology) major here at Rutgers. Some of my hobbies include spending time with my family, going to the gym, or running. Something cool about me is that this summer I will be traveling to Norway to run my first full marathon! I am super excited to see all the awesome things Norway has to offer. I took this course to fulfill a core requirement. I hope to learn the most effective ways to write a paper, as well as enhance some of my writing and critical reading skills. I love playing card games with my family and Monopoly was one of my favorites growing up as well. When I was younger my sister and I would go to the park every day with my grandpa and we would play lots of outdoor games like tag and keep-away football!

ParticipantRupees: 885 RupeesRank: White SwordHello everyone! My name is Ethan Lee and I am a Junior majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Entrepreneurship here at Rutgers. I am from Manalapan, New Jersey and am very excited to take this class! Some of my hobbies include playing video games, going out and eating with friends, watching Kdramas, and playing sports such as baseball and basketball. Recently, I’ve been interested in building custom keyboards as I just finished making my current one! I am also interested in applying Computer Science and hope to one day create something that can make a positive change. One fun fact about me is that I am ambidextrous but have different preferences for which hand I use for different activities.
I am also interested in game development and the various components that go into it such as design and playtesting which is a large factor as to why I am taking this class! Besides the development aspects of this class, I would also like to improve upon my writing skills, critical thinking skills, and analysis/comprehension of various readings. I am very excited for what’s to expect in this class. After browsing through the site, I am very excited and hope to experience the various fun elements that this class has to offer. (The item shop is very intriguing to me). In terms of video games, I really enjoy playing first-person shooters such as Counter Strike and Valorant. I have also been playing Overwatch a lot lately over the break! In terms of board games, I think Chess is really interesting even though I am not very good at it. I am excited to meet you all this semester!

Erin
ParticipantRupees: 1,235 RupeesRank: Magic SwordHi everyone,
I am Erin Smith and I am currently a Junior studying Psychology and Education. Outside of class I love going to the gym and going to concerts. I recently flew to Los Angeles to see Harry Styles for the 10th time. Before that I saw him in general admission at Madison Square Garden in September and it was the best day of my life.
I took this course, not only does it fulfill a requirement for SAS Core but it also can show me how to use games in the classroom to help learning. If I know how to write games then in the future when I become a teacher I can make games that will allow for learning to be fun. In this class I am hoping to experience different ideas and views on games and how they can help others in the future. I prefer Board Games and Card Games to Video Games. I grew up playing Monopoly and CandyLand with family members so it brings nostalgia. I still play card games like Spoons and Egyptian Rat Screw with my friends along with the board game Telestrations.

Your reason for taking this class is awesome and inspiring! It made me realize how ubiquitous games are, and how this class does not need to only be applied for a major in video game development/computer science. Ziyang
ParticipantRupees: 45 RupeesRank: White SwordHi, everyone! My name is Ziyang and I am a senior majoring computer science. I enjoy walking along the Delaware Canal and Raritan river. I like to keep records of my life. Photos, videos, paintings and dairies. Writing is not just about creating new exciting ideas, but also keep those precious memories not to be forgotten. We are walking in the middle between the memories from the past and the expectation for the future. Just in case we get lost, we need stories as direction.
The college’s requirement is one reason I took this class. But among all other choices, I think this class is definitely the most interesting one. I cannot image the life without playing games, so maybe this is a good opportunity for me to dig out why I am so addicted to it. I prefer strategy games among all the other types. Sid Meier’s Civilization and Heart Of Iron, Victoria and Crusader Kings from Paradox. But I am open to it. I also enjoy some plot-leading games like To the Moon, Danganronpa, Ace Attorney and etc. Look forward for your games recommendations!-

Its also admirable how you keep a record of your life, I’m currently trying myself to keep a diary everyday.

ParticipantRupees: 400 RupeesRank: White SwordHi everyone! My name is Izabella Ksiazek and I am a Junior at Rutgers. I am majoring in Information Technology and Informatics and minoring in Computer Science. Outside of school, I love to play video games and go shopping. I love to play video games, such as Valorant, Counter-Strike, and APEX Legends. I am on a team for Valorant and I enjoy it a lot. In addition, I love to go shopping and some of my favorite stores include Hot Topic, BoxLunch, Hollister, Forever21, and H&M. One out-of-the-ordinary thing about me is that I collect plushies such as Squishmallows. I love plushies and anything Sanrio, which includes characters such as Hello Kitty.
I decided to take this course because I have been playing video games and board games all of my life. My dad introduced me to one of my first games when I was younger which was an Ice Age game that followed the movie as well as the Spongebob game. They were so fun and when I got older my dad showed me a game called S.W.A.T where you had to go into a building and save hostages. In addition, I also played a lot of board games such as Monopoly, Connect4, and CandyLand. It was so much fun and I thought this class would be very interesting to take since games have been such a huge part of my life. At this point, I only play video games, but I still enjoy board games every now and then. I mostly play shooting games such as Valorant, but I also enjoy calmer games such as StarDew Valley. In this class, I am hoping to learn the process of how games are written and how they fix plot holes and make sure the details all match.

I think games like Stardew Valley are fun as well, but while the pace is slower one could argue that it’s just as complicated as more fast paced games based on the tasks you have to complete. So that’s pretty cool.

ParticipantRupees: 410 RupeesRank: Wooden SwordHi guys!
My name is Ahisha Singh and I am a junior at Rutgers. My major is ITI and my minor is data science. My hobbies outside of school include working out, reading, and hanging out with friends. Something interesting about myself is, I love animals and I like to volunteer at shelters.
I took this course because out of all the writing required courses for SAS, this one stuck out to me the most and I thought it would be different and interesting. I hope that I experience a different kind of learning and teaching style in this class, and I have already started to see that such as with this platform. I like to play all types of games, such as board games like monopoly and card games like uno. I like video games as well and some of my favorites include GTA, SIMS, animal crossing, mario kart, and a few others. In general I like feel good games, with a few exceptions.-

I also like playing games such as Uno and Monopoly and I think they are super fun! You seem like a very nice and genuine person!

Pragya
ParticipantRupees: 195 RupeesRank: Magic SwordHi everyone, I’m Pragya and I’m a senior double majoring in computer science and BAIT. Outside of school I like basically anything creative like drawing, writing, listening to and composing music, etc. One fact about me is that once upon a time in elementary school I really, really wanted to be a meteorologist and got really into studying the weather. During one Rutgers day the meteorology department let visitors record a mock weather report as they do on the news, so that was pretty fun, although clearly I’ve changed career goals since then.
In terms of games, I mostly like PC games and especially RPG games. In fact I tried very hard to design my own game using RPG Maker, given all my aforementioned interests (except for weather, not sure if you can apply that to games). Unfortunately I got too busy with school, so hopefully this class is another chance to make something. I’m also not super great at a lot of video games so I like to watch let’s plays which is really interesting as a medium since there are so many different play styles. I tell everyone who asks that my favorite game is Ratatouille for the PS2, and I’m not even exaggerating.

Kangwei
ParticipantRupees: 370 RupeesRank: White SwordHi everyone, my name is Kangwei Zhu. I am a junior at Rutgers and majoring in Computer Science. I love playing video games, watching Japanese anime and listening to music. But I have to say that for the last 6 months, most of my time was spent on preparing for campus recruitment. Everyday I spend approximately 10 hours on implementing functionalities of my backend & front end project and solving the algorithm problems.
One reason I take this course is because it fulfills Rutgers’ core curriculum requirements. Another reason why I choose to take this game writing course instead of taking another writing course is because of the word “game”. I think the things we do in the traditional writing courses are just reading, reading, reading and writing, writing, writing. And it is quite boring. But for game writing, I believe it is more like “reside teach on the happy” .This entertainment learning styles will make our learning efficiency become higher. Moreover, I believe taking this course could boost my writing and collaborative skills.
I think I am a video game lover. Before getting in touch with video games, I played mobile phone games like Clash of clans and Clash Royale. But since I played the game league of legend, I completely fell in love with it. I remember I got in touch with league of legend when I was in 11th grade. At that time, no matter what time, which place. I am always playing League of Legends, even in class time or at the library. The result is both my grades and game skills moves like the speed of a rocket — The former one falls like rocket, and the latter one boosts like rocket. One thing that I think is worth to note is I climb to China super server grandmaster and korean server master within two years. After I got in touch with league of legend, I also tried some FPS games like CSGO. But I still feel League of legend was my favorite.

ParticipantRupees: 865 RupeesRank: White SwordHi! My name is Chris, and I am a sophomore majoring in CS. My interests outside of class are playing/watching sports, playing piano, and watching TV. Something interesting about me is that I also love reading/writing stories, which led me to minor in creative writing.
I took this course because games have always been a big part of my life, and something that has always fascinated me about games, and which crosses over with my field of study, is the storytelling that goes into each game. I am hoping to gain some insight into the entire process of designing a game, and how it creates such an immersive and unforgettable experience, which could possibly serve as a launching pad for creating my own game. I like to play games that either involve a story/worldbuilding or require strategy. Some games I have always liked to play are Chess, Chinese Chess, and card games like poker. I also play a good amount of video games such as Pokemon and League of Legends.-

ParticipantRupees: 370 RupeesRank: White SwordHi Chris!
Chinese Chess has been a very popular board game in China, and I also like to play it with my family members or friends. I think Chinese Chess and International Chess actually have many similarities, such as the movement of different pieces. Which one you think is harder to learn? Chess or Chinese Chess? -

ParticipantRupees: 885 RupeesRank: White SwordHi Chris! I took a creative writing class last semester for the first time without knowing what to expect. I really really enjoyed it and was thrilled by the creative freedom that I had while creating stories. I would love to read some of your stories at some point! I am also a Computer Science major like you! What career goals do you have in your future revolving computer science? Hope to get to know you more later on!

Shamar
ParticipantRupees: 280 RupeesRank: White SwordHello Everyone,
My name is Shamar. I’m a senior at Rutgers University, and I’m majoring in Information Technology and Informatics (ITI). My interests/hobbies outside of class are going to the gym, drawing, playing video games, watching horror movies/shows, and traveling. I also enjoy coding during and outside of class. During my break from school, I have been researching YouTube tutorials of coding using JavaScript, CSS, SQL, and Python. Taking a Web Design and Obj.-Oriented Programming course, I was very familiar with coding. However, I want to further my skills and knowledge in coding so that it can provide the skills and opportunity to pursue my desired profession.I took this course because I’m a game fanatic and am very open to playing various video games. What I want to get out of this class is not only to analyze the structure and elements of certain games but to be able to write a story in the creation of a video game and also become a video game developer. The kind of games that I play are video games, and I play board games sometimes. When I was little, I would stay up until midnight playing games on Nintendo DS because I was heavily invested in a game where I was trying to complete a particular level. I was considered a “night owl,” so I didn’t sleep immediately. My parents sometimes caught and chastised me for playing video games late. The types of video games I play are fighting games, RPGs, open-world games, and first-person/second-person shooting games. The game I’m playing right now is Dragon Ball Z Fighters, a 2D fighting game of the popular anime series Dragon Ball Z. The game contains characters from the past and new series of Dragon Ball Z, which can be unlocked during story mode or purchased through the gaming store, depending on your console.

Rachel
ParticipantRupees: 385 RupeesRank: White SwordHi! My name is Rachel and I am currently a freshman in the Pharmacy program. Outside of school, my interests lie in art, anime, and games. Art has been with me since I was a preschooler, and now, I specialize in watercolor painting. Art school was actually my second choice if I had not done Pharmacy. Something interesting about myself is that I’m actually a bowler. In high school, I was the captain of the varsity team and won three consecutive county titles in a row, as well as a handful of other tournaments. Besides team accomplishments, I won first place in the Korean American Sports Festival held at Texas last year, and my mother and I both qualified to participate in the Korean National Sports Festival in Korea as a representative of the USA. At Korea, my mother and I placed 2nd for doubles, and we finished 1st for the team match and overall.
Regarding games, I played games all throughout my life, from flash games to MMos to rhythm games. My favorites include the Final Fantasy series (7, 14, 15), Genshin Impact, and League of Legends. I especially enjoy MMOs alot, where I can socialize and connect with other people in the online world. Games like Genshin are ones that I play when I want to relax, as it is mostly a single player experience that I can enjoy on my own pace. League is my favorite game to play when I want to have fun with my friends. I took this course due to my big interest in games, and I want to learn about the thought process behind creating these games. I also thought that it would be nice to meet new people who have similar interests as me. From this class, I want to be able to look at games from a perspective other than the player.

ParticipantRupees: 280 RupeesRank: White SwordHey Rachel. Congratulations on winning the Korean National Sports Festival! That’s an amazing skill to have, considering bowling is one of the most challenging sports. Final Fantasy 15 was also my favorite game because it was very relaxing, the story was engaging, and you could navigate the world. I am also highly interested in playing Final Fantasy’s remake, especially the second chapter involving Sephiroth.

ParticipantRupees: 315 RupeesRank: White SwordHiii everyone! My name is Aaliyah. I am a bio major at SAS. My interests include doing evangelical work; I am really involved in my church and I do a lot of activities there. I love dogs, and a hobby of mine is dancing. Something interesting about me is that I play the violin. I’ve been playing since I was in third grade.
I took this course because I am minoring in Business and Technical Writing, and I came across it when I was looking at the list of classes I could take to fulfill a requirement. This one was definitely the most interesting and was way different than the regular bio courses that I take, so I thought it would be a nice change. I’m hoping to experience gaming and writing in a new light and excited to design a game. One of my all time favorite games I used to play was Mario Bros on the DS. I had most of their games and was obsessed with them. I don’t play them anymore though, but I do play other games like Candy Crush. I passed level 3000 the other day and felt so accomplished in life lol. I also like playing board and card games with my family. There’s a particular Liberian board game my family always play together, and we get pretty competitive about it. Same thing for UNO whenever we play.

I love playing Candy Crush and passing level 3000 is genuinely such a huge accomplishment! Candy Crush is one of those games I refuse to delete off my phone because I do not want to start from the beginning and lose all my progress lol. For my family as well, we get very into Uno and very competitive about it, even with my friends! What is the name of the Liberian board game and would you be able to explain how to play? Great post!

ParticipantRupees: 425 RupeesRank: White SwordHi, Aaliyah! I was looking for another Technical Writing minor here, but I realized we also have other things in common, too.
I am involved a lot in my church as well, and I used to play violin, too, but I quit after three years, so I remember virtually nothing haha. I still really enjoy listening to it, though, and it’s cool that you stuck with it for so long!
Your post reminded me that I had a DSi growing up, which I completely forgot about. I was pretty addicted to it, too. It was nice getting to know you!

I also found it cool how we’re both minoring in business and technical writing, and we both chose to took this class to help fulfill a requirement.

ParticipantRupees: 735 RupeesRank: White SwordHi everyone! My name is Alexis and I am a senior majoring in Marketing. Some interests I have outside of class include reading, exercising, and cooking! I also enjoy spending time with my two cats. Something interesting about me is that I run my own eyelash extension business that I have been running for over a year now! I took this course because I love writing and wanted to try something different in the world of writing. When I came across this course it looked really fun and I wanted to challenge myself by trying something out of my comfort zone. I am hoping to learn about what goes into game writing and hopefully takeaway some new writing techniques as well as knowledge of the world of gaming as I do not know much about the subject. I really enjoy online block/puzzle games such as tetris, block puzzle, etc(these are the games I play most often as I have them right on my phone). I also enjoy board games such as Monopoly, Sorry!, and Scrabble. My favorite card game is UNO. Overall I have played a variety of games throughout my childhood and into my adult life and I have never really come across a game I don’t enjoy!

ParticipantRupees: 425 RupeesRank: White SwordHi Alexis!
I also enjoy reading, but I haven’t had the time as of late. What genres do you like? I mostly read YA novels, but everything from mystery to fantasy to romance.
Cooking is another hobby of mine, too! I generally never make the same thing, though, because I try to make food from different cultures, and I always want to try something new. I’m curious about what kind of food you make, though.
I used to really be into Unblock Me – have you heard of it? It’s another block puzzle game. And I guess 2048 counts as well, which I still play even today.
I completely forgot about Sorry!. It’s been so long I don’t even remember how to play haha, but I really love UNO as well! It was nice getting to know you!

ParticipantRupees: 320 RupeesRank: White SwordIn your first post, please introduce yourself to your classmates. Help us get to know you better! Compose a thoughtful introduction in which you cover the basics… which, at the very least, should include:
Hello class,My name is Jasmine, my major is social work. I enjoy being with family and helping others which is what I do on a daily basis as a RBT. I enjoy working out, movies, and meditation. I’ve had a play station 1, sims for computers and attempted to become the best at COD but that was short lived lol. I took this course to fulfill my WCDr for my SAS degree, the description for this course was not very detailed about collaborative writing practices. Therefore, seeing the name of this course was very intimidating along with navigating this website. I am hoping to experience the fun professor has expressed about this course. I currently play candy crush and solitaire. I enjoyed playing uno and monopoly as a child with my family and friends.

ParticipantRupees: 300 RupeesRank: White SwordHi my name is Robert Bobko and I liked to be called Rob. I am a senior psychology major. My interests outside of class are playing games, basketball, driving, and writing. An interesting thing about me is that I won second place in a canoe race and I was featured on local TV. That is about the biggest 5 minutes of fame I have had. This is my senior year therefore I have a little bit more freedom with the classes that I got to choose from. So I chose this class because it seemed very interesting. I am also into writing fiction pieces so I thought it would be a good fit. I am hoping to level up my writing ability and learn more about games that I. spend a lot of time playing. I play all kinds of games, from poker to chess to almost any video game. I have played sports games like NHL, 2k, and Madden. As well as those I have played FPS games like call of duty, CSGO, and so many more. I have also played plenty of solo games like Eldin ring, pokemon, and star wars. There really is not a game I would not try wether that be playing a card game, video game, or pickup basketball.

I, unfortunately, did not play scarlet and violet because I do not have a switch or anything to play on. It looks super cool and interesting especially shiny hunting. I used to play a lot more pokemon, like diamond and platinum. Thanks so much Ethan.

ParticipantRupees: 195 RupeesRank: Magic SwordHi Robert,
It’s pretty cool that you won a canoe race! Do you like canoeing or boating in general in your free time? Also the canoe race stood out to me because once I completed in one where you had to build a canoe out of cardboard. Needless to say mine sunk in the first few minutes along with most others. So maybe that can be your next goal, haha!-

ParticipantRupees: 280 RupeesRank: White SwordHey Robert. Congrats on winning second place in a canoe race and being featured on local TV. I play sports games like 2k and Madden only a little bit, but my brother plays with his friends online. I’ve also played Elden Ring and thought it was enjoyable and engaging. It can sometimes be difficult when you come across stronger enemies and need more resources to defend yourself.

Christiana
ParticipantRupees: 425 RupeesRank: White SwordHello, my name is Christiana and I am majoring in English. I like to read and cook, but I haven’t had as much time to do so lately.
Something interesting about me is that I really enjoy experiencing different cultures. I love to cook and order food from other countries and enjoy media (shows, music, etc..) from unfamiliar places as well. Consequently, I really like learning new languages and technically know quite a few but am terrible at all of them. I love to travel too, as you would probably expect, but haven’t traveled much at all.
I took this course to fulfill a requirement for my Technical Writing minor. I have taken many writing courses for my major and minor, but this course is unlike anything else I have take, so I wanted to experience something new when it came to writing.
Concerning games, when I was younger I played a lot of card games (actuals cards and games like UNO too), dominoes, and board games with my family. I also played many of the countless games on CoolMathGames and also enjoyed Poptropica and Wizard101. Concerning mobile games, I was addicted to games like Temple Run, Piano Tiles and Five Nights at Freddy’s.

ParticipantRupees: 400 RupeesRank: White SwordHi Christiana! It is very nice to meet you and I think it is so cool that you like to learn new languages. Learning new languages is very difficult and requires a lot of time and dedication and I think it is amazing that you like to enjoy and experience different cultures and languages. Learning new languages opens your world up even more. I only speak English and Polish, but I think it would be really cool to learn another language one day because it opens up so many more experiences. In addition, when I was younger I also really enjoyed playing Wizard101, it was so fun to run around and choose your own character and design them. It is nice to meet you and you seem really nice!

ParticipantRupees: 385 RupeesRank: White SwordHey Christina! I think its incredible that your love for different cultures leads in to you trying to learn new languages. Usually, learning languages is a huge dedication – I’ve tried to learn Japanese multiple times, but could never follow through all the way so I only know a little of the basics. Your dedication is admirable and maybe I’ll try to pick up learning Japanese again! Regarding games, I also had alot of fun on CoolMathGames and Poptropica while I was in elementary school. My friends and I would always play on these websites during computer class, and thinking about it now it was such a fun time.

ParticipantRupees: 600 RupeesRank: White SwordHi, my name is Scott Mangino. I am currently majoring in psychology and minoring in business and technical writing. My main interest/hobby outside of my classes is that I play drums in a punk band called chemical-x. I’m really into music so i am usually either practicing by myself or rehearsing with my band. Something interesting about me is that some of my favorite bands are the Ramones, Sex Pistols, and the Descendents. The main reason I am taking this course is to fulfill a course requirement for my minor, but the class seems like it could be cool. I am hoping to experience making my own little video game, as that is something that I have always thought about doing. I used to really like playing Mario games as well as call of duty zombies, now I usually only play party games.
