ParticipantRupees: 0 RupeesRank: NewbieHi Team RADD! I really enjoyed seeing the progression of your prototype from the initial, simple board game to this evolved product with a detailed fantasy story. I really liked your elaboration on the story of Planet Galileo and why the the captain and the general want to capture the flag for their respective team. I also liked how you mentioned specific games that you pulled inspiration from. One area of improvement I would suggest would be your visual aide– in the gameplay portion (around 5 min into the video) I had a hard time reading the words on the slides. Also, at many points in your video you simply had images on the screen as your aide for up to 30 seconds at a time, and it would have been easier to follow had their been a few words on the slide as well. Overall, great job incorporating student feedback into the new and improved game.

ParticipantRupees: 0 RupeesRank: NewbieHey RADD!!
It is so great to see how far you guys have come since your first prototype. I remember playing your game before there was any story to it, and I may have contributed to those boring comments. However, the addition of the story and characters really brought your game together. Your presentation showed many visual aspects of your game, which was nice, but could have used a few supporting words as well. Overall, you guys did a great job! -

It’s amazing to see how much your game evolved from its initial stages to the final prototype! The story behind your game is very unique and interesting, and I love how detailed it is. I also really like how you incorporated images of the student feedback, and how those comments played a role in the development of the game. Similar to what Maria said, I would suggest changing the font color on your slides that have text on them because it was a little difficult to read. I loved how you guys closed out the presentation with a very brief yet clever pitch statement. That is something that would definitely entice someone to play this game. You guys did a wonderful job with this game and presentation!

ParticipantRupees: 0 RupeesRank: NewbieHey RADD, I will say that I really enjoyed the story explanation of the game. Originally, it very much reminded me of a game more similar to tic tac toe just because it seemed like a game you could bring out and play without any story required. I like the inclusion of a broader story to follow.

ParticipantRupees: 0 RupeesRank: NewbieHi Team Radd! I really enjoyed this presentation, and the combination of a monopoly-like board game with a sci-fi action genre (Doom) seems super fun. Specifically, I loved how you added the HP system to add to the “fighting” feel between players. Also, the General vs. Aliens conflict reminded me of old sci-fi arcade games, so I found this very charming and fun. The adaptive gameplay and differing strategies based on the player’s position make the game more exciting and add to the theme of “war”. Great job!

Like the other comments, I really enjoyed your explanation for why you combined Monopoly and Doom. I also really like getting to see your progression and how you took your playtesting feedback to make something more widely enjoyable for more audiences. The best new addition, for me, is the new pass, battle, or gamble moves. It does a lot to make your game stand out from the rest and feel more dynamic than a typical board game with a cool story. Great job! -

ParticipantRupees: 0 RupeesRank: NewbieHey Team RADD,
Your game was super creative and I really enjoyed seeing how your game evolved over time! You really took the feedback you were given in stride and incorporated it well to make a unique experience. I think, for our team, it was difficult sometimes to figure out the best way to create new ideas with the broad feedback that we were given (e.g. “too boring” or something like that) but you did a great job with that! Awesome work!-

ParticipantRupees: 0 RupeesRank: NewbieHi Team RADD,
Everything about the game that you all developed has great potential to grab the eyes of many different players. From the gameplay, to the story of the game, to the graphics of the game; all fantastically work hand in hand in making an overall great game. I personally think the fact that your game is partially skill based and partially luck based makes it a great attraction for all different audiences. My favorite part about this game is the creativity behind the options of each turn. The fact that you can move across the board, and choose to either attack or heal yourself on your turns makes this game seem very fun because there is a sense of strategy involved. With the factor of luck included into that, you have all created a well captivating game.

It started out with a simple design, strong mechanics, and you fortified it with your audience’s feedback. Good luck to you guys!!

I really like the character pieces, and the way that the board was made. I really appreciate you guys taking the play testing weeks very seriously and making the right modifications to the game, because it made the game so much better!

I love that out of all the games, yours has undergone the biggest overhaul since the prototype phase. It shows open-mindedness and a willingness to collaborate, which is necessary for any game design process. Additionally, the choice of science-fiction aesthetics was a great fit considering the game’s CTF-style rules and the layout of the board. Good job on the game!

ParticipantRupees: 0 RupeesRank: NewbieHi Team Victorium! I loved seeing your specific design process, i.e. how you decided which board game elements to include. It was also interesting to see how your game changed from the initial vs. final prototype. Overall, I loved how you really listened to player testers and made corresponding changes to your game. The paparazzi/Hollywood theme is very fun and I think you did a great job supporting this theme through game mechanics, story, aesthetics, etc. Also, your slides reflected the game’s theme very well. The only thing I would add is a section that more clearly defines the game’s audience. Overall, great job!

ParticipantRupees: 0 RupeesRank: NewbieHi, Team Victorium!
First of all, I LOVE your slides! It feels really fun, colorful, and lighthearted, exactly like your game! What is most impressive to me is how dynamically you changed your game based on feedback, how you went step by step into the process, and your reasons for making certain decisions. I really liked your original game, and I know how hard it can be to let go of something you believe in, but your updated version is really cool and streamlined! I think players would appreciate the more straightforward concept that is reminiscent of other board games; then, once you had a dedicated fanbase, you could probably introduce the old board as a separate version that could be more complex (for older fans). I really enjoyed your presentation overall! -

ParticipantRupees: 0 RupeesRank: NewbieHey Team Victorium,
Awesome work! One takeaway that I really liked is how you learned early that “simple is better” — we had the opposite experience where I think our game was too simple and we needed to increase the scope and create some more complexity in able to make it a more engaging experience. I thought that was really interesting, but your turnout was super cool, and I love the visual design as well! -

I really like the theme of the game! I remembered looking at it during playtesting and thinking that it has a very pretty aesthetic to it. I’m really glad you changed up the board itself since I found that the movement around the board ended for potentially infinite scenarios. Your team made a lot of really good adjustments! Having the color palette and overall aesthetic of the presentation match that of the game was a great idea — it certainly demonstrates that reinforcing a theme was a concept that was kept in mind throughout the drafting of the GDD as well as the making of the video. Also, the board game and all of its constituent parts (cards, board, writing) are very well thought out and demonstrates great knowledge of game design. Well done!

ParticipantRupees: 0 RupeesRank: NewbieHi R-Wars Team!
I really liked that you brought in your personal experience of not knowing each other, the challenges of meeting virtually in an asynchronous environment, and how you got past these barriers. I also enjoyed your detailed reflection of the takeaways of your entire design process. A great point you brought up is that the consumer doesn’t have much say in the game design until the playtesting stage, which was an interesting conflict my own group dealt with. We had no way of checking in and seeing if our game was interesting to the consumer until this stage in the process. The only suggestion I have is to maybe add more slides with imagery of different stages in your game design process. Staying on 1 slide for too long might make the presentation a bit stagnant. -

ParticipantRupees: 0 RupeesRank: NewbieHi team Victorium. It was really cool listening to your thought process when creating the game. It was very different from how we approached our project. It was also really interesting to see how much this game changed. First, I want to acknowledge how articulate and well spoken your group is! Great job. Also, I really liked that you brought in the real-world/social impact of your game when you mentioned how only 16% of CS grads are women and how Bakers Frenzy will build coding literacy in women. You also were very detailed in your monetization plan with in-game purchases and a plan to expand to a mobile app. My only suggestion is to maybe keep the video a bit shorter since it was a bit lengthy. ParticipantRupees: 0 RupeesRank: NewbieHey JKA!
Your presentation is very aesthetically pleasing and neat, so well done on that! I agree with Maria that it was a bit lengthy, and some parts, like the story slide, feel like you were simply reading off the screen. Rather than doing that, a good change would be to put critical points of the story on the slide and tell the audience the story as if you were describing it off the top of your head. It would definitely help capture the audience’s attention both visually and auditorially. I love how you guys are passionate about teaching young girls about coding, but I don’t feel like this shows through your game. If this is something you are very keen on converting, then consider changing your game to actually implement those coding aspects you want to share. Otherwise, the players are not coding whatsoever in your game, and that message is nonexistent. Also, you may want to go more in-depth about your design process, the feedback you received, etc. I know this game took a lot of work, and you should wan to showcase that tin your presentation. Overall, you guys did a really nice job!

ParticipantRupees: 0 RupeesRank: NewbieHi Team JKA!
I want to begin by saying that your presentation was very well put together and organized. I do, however, think that the pitch could have been more compelling. Your pitch consisted of describing the game itself, the story, and the characters but I think you could have focused more on why your target playerbase should play your game or what makes your game different from other games that have the intent to teach its players how to code. I think the mission of this game is very unique as you guys want to use it as an education tool for young girls but to add on to what Gabby said, I do think that the mission is not showcased through the game itself. The platform that the game was created on, Scratch, is very useful to help students learn how to code but maybe there could be a way to incorporate elements of coding into Bakers Frenzy. I personally am learning how to code and seeing the dedication from all your team members to develop a game with that intent is really awesome.

Okay first off, your game’s story is so good! It looks amazing and is actually sort of difficult to win so great job! Your presentation was also very clear and well thought out with all the necessary components displayed in an entertaining way. My one suggestion, and I don’t know if this is intentional, is that you should have the resolution of the characters match the background in the game and the menu. That way, when resizing them, they don’t lose quality and actually look like they belong in the scene. Otherwise, Great Job! -

Great job! This video clearly explains everything from the interesting characters and plot to the fun gameplay of Baker’s Frenzy. My favorite part about this game overall is the adorable characters that complements the gameplay and makes it that much more enjoyable. Great presentation!

I found your story to be quite interesting. I didn’t expect there to be such an interesting storyline surrounding a baker’s dog and mice. The characters have a really cute aesthetic appeal to them so I like that you’re marketing towards 8+. Also, the line about 16% of the college grads women had CS degrees was really interesting. You don’t see the disparity too much in the lower level CS courses, but it becomes very apparent in the upper level CS courses. My CS415 class was made up of only men. I’m really glad that you used Scratch since it also gives your game more reasons for why people should play it. Scratch is very useful for children learning how to code so I’m glad that your team is setting good examples for children to learn Computer Science. Well Done!

ParticipantRupees: 0 RupeesRank: NewbieMaking a step by step plan regarding the placement of the game in other markets is truly impressive. I thought this game was well made and could have perfect playability and profitability in the future if it is actually pursued. Partnering up with a children’s book company is a wonderful idea that would generate a lot of growth and a lot of players .

Your presentation was super organized, detailed, and super professional! I love the very through explanation that you guys gave on each slide, and the slides themselves were very aesthetic and pleasing to the eye! The story was a lot more complicated and larger than I expected, but I was pleasantly surprised when you guys explained the entire nature between the baker’s dog and mice. Overall, great job!

ParticipantRupees: 0 RupeesRank: NewbieHi Team Just Kidding Around,
The presentation went very well with the game; watching the two together made for a very aesthetically pleasing experience. which is a massive achievement given how much of Scratch’s potential it utilizes. The presentation also did a great job simplifying complex concepts into something easy to understand. Good job on the game!
